Ryan Alebiosu has described his debut for the Nigeria national football team as one of the greatest moments of his career, while also admitting that the experience has increased his hunger to achieve more in football.

The Blackburn Rovers right back made his senior international debut on December 30, 2025, during Nigeria’s 3-1 victory over Uganda national football team at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

Speaking with Blackburn Rovers Media, the 23 year old revealed that earning a Super Eagles call up was something he never fully expected when the season began.

“I think it was just a bonus,” Ryan Alebiosu said.

“When I signed, I didn’t think much of getting international call-up. When it does happen it was like a dream come true. For that to happen, it was one of the biggest highlights of my career, playing for my country and getting called up. It really made my season as well.

“When the international stuff happened, it just boost my confidence even more, it made me realize there’s a lot that could have been done and a lot has happened but I am just grateful.”

A stronger sense of belief was also said to have been gained from the experience, with the defender insisting that more improvement is still expected from him in the coming years.

“It’s been brilliant as a team and them getting called up for Nigeria, it’s a honour. Getting that at the age of 23, which was the half of last season I got the call-up, it just gives me more hunger for the next season. There’s still a lot to improve on but now just give me that belief that there’s more to bring to the table.”

A consistent season was enjoyed by Alebiosu in the English Championship, where 39 appearances were made for Blackburn Rovers. He started 37 matches and accumulated 3,196 minutes across the campaign, underlining his growing importance at club level as his international career continues to develop.
