Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has assured Estevao that he will get more chances to play this season, insisting the winger remains an important part of his plans.
Alonso spoke to the media ahead of Chelsea’s Premier League clash with Manchester United on Saturday. He addressed concerns over the Brazilian’s limited minutes and dismissed suggestions that the club could send him out on loan in January.
The Chelsea boss stressed that the season is still young and every player will have opportunities to make an impact.
“Yeah, sure he (Estevao) will play. The season is long and there will be opportunities for everyone. He will have his minutes. We are still early in the season but he will be there.
“It is not about attitude, it is about the context of games. He is a great guy. We are still in October and he will be important.
“It’s no secret that all players want to be on the pitch and playing. I have to take responsibility for that [happiness]. Everyone has to be ready. Every game is important. Este is training and his attitude has been good.”
Alonso also ruled out the prospect of a January loan move for Estevao. He said there were “no discussions” about such a deal.

Estevao Targets More Minutes Against Manchester United
Attention now turns to Saturday’s meeting with Manchester United. Chelsea have found this fixture difficult in recent years, winning just two of their last 17 Premier League games against the Old Trafford club. They have drawn eight and lost seven.
However, both victories came at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea won 4-3 in the 2023-24 season before claiming a 1-0 victory the following campaign.
Estevao will hope to feature and make a bigger contribution as Chelsea look to improve their record against United.
The 18-year-old has played a combined 72 minutes across six Premier League appearances this season. He is yet to score or provide an assist.
Despite his limited involvement so far, Alonso’s comments suggest the winger remains in his plans. Estevao will now be looking for an opportunity to prove his value as the campaign continues.
