Dessers had come close to scoring earlier in the contest. In the 25th minute, the striker rounded Volos goalkeeper Marios Siampanis but saw his effort strike the post. He eventually found the breakthrough after the interval, capitalising on another attacking opportunity to put the visitors in front.

The forward finished the match with four shots, two of which were on target. He completed six of his seven passes, recording approximately 86 per cent passing accuracy, while registering 13 touches. Dessers also won two of his three ground duels, highlighting his involvement in the attacking contest despite his relatively limited number of touches.

Panathinaikos threatened to extend their advantage after taking the lead, with Levi García striking the woodwork. Volos attempted to respond and appeared to have equalised through Jan Hurtado in the 80th minute, but the goal was disallowed for offside.

Dessers had a further opportunity to score in stoppage time, but Siampanis denied him in a one-on-one situation. Nevertheless, his second-half strike was enough to secure victory for the visitors.

The result represents an important away win for Panathinaikos, with Dessers once again demonstrating his ability to influence a match through a decisive contribution in front of goal.
