The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has completed the group stage draw for the 2026/27 CAF Confederation Cup in Cairo, Egypt, setting up a series of challenging ties for clubs across the continent.
The ceremony took place on Wednesday, with former Burkina Faso international Traoré and Sudanese football icon Eltaieb assisting with the draw. CAF’s Khaled Nassar conducted proceedings, while Ugandan sports broadcaster Andrew Kabuura served as master of ceremonies.
Egyptian side Al Ahly face a tough test in Group A. They will meet Morocco’s Raja Casablanca, Togo’s ASKO Kara and Angola’s Primeiro de Agosto as they seek to advance to the knockout stage.
South African club Durban City have also drawn strong opposition in Group B. They will face Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces, last season’s CAF Champions League runners up, alongside Libya’s Al Ahly Tripoli and Tanzania’s Azam.
Group C features Algerian side CR Belouizdad, who face uncertainty after head coach Nabil Maâloul resigned last Saturday. Their group opponents include AS Douanes, Singida Black Stars, Red Arrows and Maniema Union, although the final composition of the group remains subject to the qualification details listed by CAF.
Meanwhile, Group D brings together Algerian club USM Alger, Tunisia’s CS Sfaxien, Mozambique’s Black Bulls and Mali’s Real Bamako.
