Nigeria Premier Football League giants Kano Pillars have officially unveiled Super Eagles assistant coach Daniel Ogunmodede, popularly known as IJABALL, as the club’s new Technical Adviser during a press conference held at the Kano Pillars Secretariat.
The former Remo Stars manager has reportedly signed a two year contract with the Sai Masu Gida. During his unveiling, Ogunmodede explained why he accepted the offer, revealing that the ambitious project presented by the club’s new Chairman, Alhaji Ahmad Musbahu Garo, perfectly matched his football philosophy.
“It is very important for us to build a team that can compete and win all competitions,” Daniel Ogunmodede said while addressing journalists during the unveiling ceremony.
The club also confirmed his appointment in a statement posted across its official social media platforms.
“We are delighted to officially unveil Mr. Daniel Ogunmodede (Ijaball) as our new Technical Adviser at the club’s secretariat in the presence of our Chairman, Alhaji Ahmad Musbahu Garo.
“A proven tactician with a winning mentality, Ogunmodede now takes charge of the Sai Masu Gida as we embark on an exciting journey towards success in the 2026/2027 season.
Welcome to the home of football. Welcome to the family.
Barka da zuwa, Coach Daniel Ogunmodede!”
Ogunmodede arrives in Kano just days after officially announcing his departure from Remo Stars, ending an unforgettable 11 year spell with the Ikenne based club. The highly rated coach confirmed his exit on Friday night through an emotional farewell message shared on his social media accounts.
His greatest success came on April 27, 2025, when he guided Remo Stars to their first ever Nigeria Premier Football League title. The triumph also made Remo Stars the first club from Nigeria’s South West to win the league championship since Julius Berger achieved the feat in 2000.
Kano Pillars will now look to Ogunmodede to restore the club to the summit of Nigerian football after several challenging seasons. The four time league champions last lifted the Nigeria Premier Football League title in 2014, having previously won the crown in the 2007/08, 2012, 2013 and 2014 seasons.
The appointment signals the beginning of a new era at Kano Pillars, with the club hoping Ogunmodede’s proven ability to build competitive teams can help revive their fortunes and return the Sai Masu Gida to domestic success.
Although the club has now completed his unveiling, attention will quickly shift to preparations for the 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League season, where Ogunmodede will be expected to lead Kano Pillars back into title contention.
