Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has signed a two-year contract extension with Saudi Women’s Premier League side Al Ittihad Ladies, keeping her at the club until 2028, Trybal News reports.
The new deal follows an impressive spell with the Saudi club, where Plumptre has established herself as one of the team’s key players. Since joining Al Ittihad Ladies in 2023, the versatile defender has registered 15 goals and 19 assists in 41 appearances, underlining her influence at both ends of the pitch.

The contract extension also comes during Plumptre’s recovery from a left foot injury that required surgery in March. She has been undergoing rehabilitation in the United Kingdom under the supervision of Al Ittihad’s medical team.
The injury ruled the 28-year-old out of Nigeria’s squad for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco after she was unable to regain full fitness before the tournament. Confirming her absence, Plumptre said her body needed more time to recover as she continues her rehabilitation.
Despite missing the continental tournament, Al Ittihad’s decision to hand Plumptre a new long-term contract reflects the club’s confidence in her importance to the team as she works towards a return to competitive action.
