Belgian Pro League side Genk have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Rafiu Durosinmi from Italian club Pisa, with the Super Eagles forward signing a contract that will keep him at the Cegeka Arena until June 2030, Trybal News reports.

The 23-year-old arrives in Belgium determined to reignite his career after a brief spell in Italy. Durosinmi joined Pisa in January but managed one goal and one assist in 12 appearances as the club secured promotion to Serie A.

Despite his struggles in Italy, the Nigerian built a strong reputation during his time with Czech side Viktoria Plzeň, where he scored 35 goals and provided nine assists in 86 appearances across all competitions. His performances earned him recognition as one of the Czech league’s most promising forwards and convinced Genk to secure his signature.

Speaking after completing the move, Genk’s Head of Football, Dimitri de Condé, described Durosinmi as the type of striker the club had been searching for.

Rafiu is a striker with qualities that align well with the way KRC Genk wants to play. He is strong in the penalty area, combines well with teammates and has the profile to make an immediate impact. He fits perfectly with our ambition to compete at the highest level again,” De Condé said.

Durosinmi also expressed his excitement about the move, revealing that former Genk striker Paul Onuachu encouraged him to join the Belgian club.

I want to be important for the team from day one, score goals and give everything in every match. I spoke with Paul Onuachu, and he had many positive things to say about the club, the supporters and the environment. That gave me even more confidence in making this decision,” he said.

The striker now joins a club that has become synonymous with the success of Nigerian forwards. Onuachu scored 85 goals during his time at Genk before earning a move to the English Premier League, while Tolu Arokodare also enjoyed a prolific spell with the Belgian side.

Durosinmi will be hoping to follow in their footsteps as he begins a new chapter in Belgium, with Genk expecting the Nigerian to strengthen their attack as they challenge for domestic honours and European qualification this season.
