Inter Lagos have officially booked their place in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), securing their first-ever promotion to the top flight and marking a major milestone for the club while boosting Lagos’ presence in Nigeria’s elite division.

The promotion was confirmed after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Smart City at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Onikan during their penultimate Nigeria National League (NNL) fixture. Heading into the game knowing a point would be enough, Inter Lagos delivered the required result to secure qualification.
With the outcome, the Shakiru Giwa-led side clinched the Southern Conference A title, reaching 29 points and opening an unassailable lead at the top of the table. Closest challengers, Beyond Limits, have already wrapped up their campaign and are no longer in contention.
Despite sealing promotion, Inter Lagos still have one more fixture to play, a home tie against Gateway FC, but the result will have no impact on their confirmed status as group winners.
Attention now shifts to the NNL Super 4, where Inter Lagos will compete against winners from the other conferences to determine the overall champions of the league.
Their success means Lagos will have at least two representatives in next season’s NPFL, with Inter Lagos joining Ikorodu City in flying the state’s flag at the highest level.
