The 2025/26 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership season reaches its climax on Sunday in Port Harcourt, with three teams still in contention for the title as the Super Six playoffs conclude at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Trybal News reports.
After four rounds of competitive action, defending champions Edo Queens hold a narrow advantage at the top of the standings with nine points. However, Bayelsa Queens and Nasarawa Amazons remain firmly in the hunt on seven points apiece, ensuring the championship race will go down to the final day.
The spotlight will fall on the blockbuster clash between Edo Queens and Bayelsa Queens at the Main Bowl of the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium. With the title hanging in the balance, both sides know that victory could prove decisive in determining the destination of the trophy. Edo Queens require a positive result to maintain their position at the summit, while Bayelsa Queens have the opportunity to overtake the defending champions and claim the crown.
Nasarawa Amazons, meanwhile, will be hoping to capitalise on any slip-up from their rivals when they face Rivers Angels on the Mini Pitch. The Amazons remain within touching distance of the leaders and could emerge champions if results go their way.
The final day’s action will begin at 11am when Abia Angels take on FC Robo Queens at the Main Bowl, with both teams looking to end their Super Six campaigns on a positive note. Attention will then shift to the two title-defining fixtures scheduled for 2pm, as Edo Queens face Bayelsa Queens at the Main Bowl while Nasarawa Amazons battle Rivers Angels simultaneously on the Mini Pitch.
Beyond the battle for the championship, fans will also witness the crowning of the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership champions and the presentation of medals at the conclusion of the competition.
Several individual honours will also be awarded, including the Player of the Season, Goalkeeper of the Season, Top Scorer and Fair Play awards, recognising the standout performers and teams throughout the season.
With league glory, continental qualification and prestigious individual accolades all at stake, the stage is set for a thrilling conclusion to another memorable NWFL Premiership campaign.
As the curtain falls on the 2025/26 season, all roads lead to Port Harcourt, where champions will be crowned, stars celebrated and another chapter written in the history of women’s football in Nigeria.
