Taiwo Awoniyi made a late impact off the bench as Nottingham Forest cruised to a dominant 5–0 victory over Sunderland, strengthening their push to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

Introduced in the 88th minute, Awoniyi wasted no time in contributing, providing an assist for Forest’s fifth goal deep into stoppage time to cap off an emphatic away performance.

Fellow Nigerian international Ola Aina featured for the entire duration, delivering a solid display as Forest comfortably saw out the match.

The victory lifts Nottingham Forest to 39 points from 34 matches, moving them eight points clear of the relegation zone. Tottenham Hotspur currently occupy the final relegation spot, trailing Forest as the battle for survival intensifies.

Meanwhile, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Burnley have already been relegated, leaving the remaining teams scrambling to secure their top-flight status.

Forest’s commanding performance and growing points cushion mark a significant step toward safety as the season approaches its final stretch.
