The stage is set for a thrilling conclusion to the 2026 CAF Under 17 Africa Cup of Nations (U17 AFCON) as Tanzania and Senegal prepare to battle for the title in Rabat on Tuesday night, Trybal News reports.

After weeks of exciting football, dramatic comebacks and tense penalty shootouts, the two best teams of the tournament will meet at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium with the continental crown at stake. Kick-off is scheduled for 20:00 local time, 19:00 GMT and 22:00 Tanzania time.

Both finalists have earned their places through determination, discipline and impressive performances throughout the competition. As a result, fans can expect another fiercely contested encounter between two teams that have consistently shown character under pressure.

Tanzania will be chasing history as the Serengeti Boys aim to win the CAF U17 AFCON title for the first time. Their journey to the final has been one of the biggest success stories of the tournament.

The East Africans booked their place in the championship match after edging Egypt 4-3 on penalties following a hard-fought goalless draw in the semi-finals. The victory marked Tanzania’s first-ever appearance in an AFCON U17 final and continued what has been a remarkable rise in youth football.

Their recent dominance at youth level has been evident through consecutive triumphs in the CAF African Schools Football Championship in 2024 and 2025. Several members of that successful generation have now progressed into the national U17 team and are on the verge of making even more history.

Senegal’s path to the final was equally dramatic. The Young Lions of Teranga overcame tournament hosts Morocco in a tense semi-final that ended 1-1 after regulation time. In front of a passionate home crowd in Rabat, Senegal held their nerve during the shootout and secured a 7-6 victory on penalties to reach the final.

The West Africans will enter the match determined to add another youth title to their growing collection and further strengthen their reputation as one of Africa’s leading producers of young football talent.

With both teams surviving difficult knockout matches, Tuesday’s final promises to be a fascinating contest between two sides that have repeatedly demonstrated resilience and mental strength throughout the tournament.

Before the final, Morocco and Egypt will face each other in the third-place playoff as both nations seek to finish their campaigns on a positive note after falling short in the semi-finals.

Regardless of the outcome in Rabat, both finalists have already secured qualification for the 2026 FIFA U17 World Cup in Qatar later this year. They will be joined by fellow quarter-finalists Côte d’Ivoire, Cameroon, Mali and Algeria, as well as play-off winners Mozambique and Uganda.

Now, however, the focus shifts firmly to the title decider, where Tanzania and Senegal will battle for the right to be crowned champions of Africa.
