Nigeria’s Super Eagles have held on to 26th place in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola Men’s World Rankings despite slipping to fourth among Africa’s highest-ranked national teams, Trybal News reports.

The latest rankings reflect changes brought about by the conclusion of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with Egypt overtaking Nigeria on the continental ladder after an impressive campaign that saw the Pharaohs reach the Round of 16.

Although the Super Eagles’ global position remains unchanged, Eric Chelle’s men now trail Morocco, Senegal and Egypt in Africa. Nigeria accumulated 1,585.2 ranking points to remain ahead of countries including Turkey, Australia, Algeria, Canada and Côte d’Ivoire.

Morocco continue to set the pace among African nations after their quarter-final finish at the World Cup earned them a rise to sixth in the world. Senegal retained second place on the continent despite a slight drop in the global rankings, while Algeria occupy fifth place in Africa.

Nigeria have not played since their 2-1 defeat to Portugal in an international friendly in June, with the team expected to return to action during the next FIFA international window.

On the global stage, Spain’s World Cup triumph has seen them reclaim the No. 1 ranking from Argentina. France, England and Brazil complete the top five in the latest standings.

FIFA is expected to publish its next men’s world rankings on October 7, with several nations aiming to improve their positions ahead of the next round of international fixtures.
