Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu scored twice as Trabzonspor defeated Konyaspor 2-1 to win the 2026 Turkish Cup final in Antalya, Trybal News reports.
Onuachu opened the scoring in the 17th minute, finishing brilliantly to give the Black Sea Storm an early advantage in a keenly contested encounter.
Konyaspor responded strongly after the break and restored parity through Congolese forward Jackson Muleka, who found the back of the net in the second half.

However, Onuachu proved decisive again in the 78th minute, converting from the penalty spot to seal victory and deliver the trophy to Trabzonspor.

The final also carried a strong Nigerian presence, with Chibuike Nwaiwu playing the full 90 minutes at the heart of Trabzonspor’s defence, while Anthony Nwakaeme did not feature but was named among the substitutes.
For Onuachu and Nwaiwu, the triumph represents their first major silverware with Trabzonspor. Onuachu’s brace crowned an impressive campaign in which he finished as joint top scorer in the Turkish Süper Lig with 22 goals, while also playing a key role in the club’s cup run.
Nwaiwu also ended the season on a high after an impressive second half of the campaign following his January arrival from Wolfsberger AC. The 22-year-old centre-back quickly became an important figure for Trabzonspor, making 20 appearances and contributing three goals and one assist.
For Nwakaeme, the final carried emotional significance as it came at the end of his time with the club. The 37-year-old winger, who is out of contract this summer, is set to leave Trabzonspor after a memorable association with the Black Sea Storm.
Nwakaeme remains one of the club’s most influential modern foreign players, having played a key role in Trabzonspor’s 2021-22 Süper Lig title success, their first league championship in nearly four decades.
The Turkish Cup success marked Trabzonspor’s first triumph in the competition since 2020 and their 10th overall since first winning the trophy in 1977.
It was also a strong response from Trabzonspor, who bounced back after losing in last season’s final, with Onuachu, Nwaiwu and Nwakaeme all part of another memorable Nigerian chapter in the club’s history.
