Nigeria’s Flamingos revived their hopes of reaching the knockout stage of the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup after securing a 2-0 victory over Puerto Rico in their second Group B match in Morocco, Trybal News reports.
The win provided a timely response to Nigeria’s opening 2-1 defeat to Poland, earning Akeem Busari’s side their first three points of the tournament.

Oluwakemi Adegbuyi put Nigeria ahead in the 25th minute at the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Rabat, giving the Flamingos a valuable lead that they maintained until the interval.
Nigeria continued to protect their advantage after the restart, before Precious Oscar delivered the decisive moment in the third minute of second-half stoppage time to confirm the 2-0 victory.
The result puts the Nigerian side in a stronger position as they look to progress from Group B, although their final group fixture will prove crucial to their qualification hopes.
The Flamingos will face defending champions Korea DPR on Friday, October 23, in their final group-stage match.
Busari’s team will be aiming to build on their performance against Puerto Rico and secure a place in the knockout rounds against one of the competition’s toughest opponents.
