Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt have stepped up their pursuit of Nigerian international Raphael Onyedika after submitting an official offer to Belgian champions Club Brugge for the midfielder, Trybal News reports.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed on Friday that negotiations are currently underway between both clubs as Frankfurt look to secure the services of one of Nigeria’s most sought-after midfielders this summer.
The 25-year-old has been on the radar of several clubs across Europe following another impressive campaign in Belgium, with Turkish champions Galatasaray and a number of Premier League sides also monitoring his situation closely.
Onyedika has developed into one of the standout defensive midfielders in the Belgian Pro League since joining Club Brugge from Danish outfit FC Midtjylland in 2022. The Super Eagles star has made over 180 appearances for the Blauw-Zwart across all competitions, registering nine goals and six assists while playing a key role in the club’s domestic and European campaigns.
Romano confirmed Frankfurt’s interest had progressed to the formal offer stage.
“Understand Eintracht Frankfurt sent a proposal to Club Brugge for Raphael Onyedika. Negotiations are underway while there are several clubs keen on the midfielder,” Romano posted on X.
The former FC Ebedei academy product has long been viewed as a player capable of making the step up to one of Europe’s top five leagues, with his athleticism, ball-winning ability and composure in possession earning him admirers across the continent.
A move to Eintracht Frankfurt would offer the Nigerian midfielder the opportunity to continue his development in the Bundesliga, a league that has become an attractive destination for emerging African talent in recent years.
While Club Brugge remain keen to retain one of their most influential players, the growing interest in Onyedika suggests this could be the summer the midfielder finally secures his long-anticipated move away from Belgium.
The Nigeria international remains under contract at Club Brugge until June 2027, although reports indicate he is reluctant to commit to fresh terms, potentially opening the door for a transfer before the end of the window.
