Christian Nwachukwu featured for Sabah FK as Manchester United cruised to a 4-0 victory at Old Trafford in the UEFA Champions League, Trybal News report.
The Nigerian winger started the match for the Azerbaijan champions but could not prevent a heavy defeat against Michael Carrick’s Manchester United.
Sabah had made history by reaching the main league phase of the Champions League for the first time. The Azerbaijan champions battled through four qualifying rounds to earn their place among Europe’s elite clubs.
However, Old Trafford provided a major test. Although Sabah created chances, Manchester United exposed the huge gap between the level they usually face and the quality of the Premier League.
The result also continued a strong opening round for English clubs. All five Premier League teams in this season’s Champions League began their campaigns with victories.
Manchester United wasted little time taking control. Matheus Cunha, Bruno Fernandes and Benjamin Sesko all found the net before half time, effectively ending the contest with three days still to go before the Manchester derby.

For Sesko, the match carried particular importance. The Slovenian striker made his first start since May 3 and brought a sharper focus to United’s attack.
His performance could now strengthen his case to start against Manchester City. Carrick must also decide who starts on the left, with Cunha and Marcus Rashford competing for the role.
Rashford remained on the bench throughout the match. That selection decision gives Carrick another interesting option as United prepare for their Premier League clash.
The manager will welcome the competition for places. However, he also knows United must improve their league form after taking only four points from their opening three Premier League matches.
Carrick said after the Everton game on Sunday that United’s start had “not been that bad”. Still, another poor result would leave the team with little room for error.
In Europe, though, United could hardly have asked for a more comfortable opening opponent. The victory came after more than 1,000 days away from the Champions League.
United now face a much tougher schedule. They have upcoming trips to Atletico Madrid, Como and Sporting Lisbon, while Roma and Bayern Munich will visit Old Trafford.
That makes the opening victory even more valuable. United avoided giving themselves early ground to recover in the league format of the competition.
After the opening round, United sit just behind holders Paris St Germain and Barcelona in the table. Their position gives Carrick and his players plenty of encouragement as the Champions League campaign gathers pace.
For Nwachukwu, the night still marked a major personal milestone. The 20 year old played the opening 45 minutes before making way for Patrick M’Bina.
The Nigerian winger recorded one shot and completed three of six passes. He also registered 14 touches during his time on the pitch.
Christian Nwachukwu had already gained valuable European experience during the qualifying rounds. Before his Champions League debut at Old Trafford, he made three appearances for Sabah during qualifying and scored one goal.
Despite the heavy defeat, the experience gives Christian Nwachukwu a chance to measure himself against one of Europe’s biggest clubs. Sabah will now look to regroup as they continue their historic Champions League campaign.
