The Unity Cup has been officially confirmed as a FIFA Tier 1 event, a major boost for the tournament ahead of next week’s edition at The Valley in south-east London.

The competition will bring together four international teams, Nigeria, Jamaica, India and Zimbabwe from 26 to 30 May at Charlton Athletic’s historic stadium.

Nigeria will face Zimbabwe in the opening semi-final on Tuesday, 26 May, before Jamaica take on India on Wednesday, 27 May. The third-place match and final will be played on Saturday, 30 May.

The FIFA Tier 1 recognition means matches at the tournament will carry full international status under FIFA regulations, further strengthening the Unity Cup’s profile as a platform that combines competitive football with culture, identity and diaspora celebration in London.
