The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has scheduled October 8, 2026, to hear the appeal that could determine the rightful winner of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title, Trybal News reports.
The hearing, which will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland, will involve the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF), the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF).
The appeal challenges CAF’s decision to declare Senegal as having forfeited the 2025 AFCON final, a ruling that resulted in Morocco being awarded the title with a 3-0 victory by forfeit.
Senegal is seeking to have the decision overturned and to be recognized as the 2025 AFCON champions.
CAS confirmed that the parties did not agree to expedite the proceedings. As a result, the case will follow the standard timeline under the court’s procedural rules.
The hearing will be conducted behind closed doors. Following the proceedings, the CAS panel will begin its deliberations before issuing a final verdict at a later date. No decision is expected to be announced on the day of the hearing.
CAS has also urged the public to rely only on information released through its official communication channels, warning against speculation and unverified reports circulating online.
