The Super Eagles received a major boost ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup after defender Igho Ogbu and midfielder Alhassan Yusuf arrived in London on Monday morning, increasing the number of players in camp to 22.

The arrivals were confirmed by the team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe, as preparations intensified for Nigeria’s opening fixture of the four nation tournament.

Their presence added more experience and quality to the squad already gathered in camp, with head coach Eric Chelle continuing to shape his team ahead of the competition.

The players already in camp are Junior Ayobami, Al Ameen Tijani, Michael Atata, Adeoye Aderemi, Oputa Chibueze, Ighoke Obinna, Ocholi Elias, Oyedokun Tosin, Philip Otele, Arthur Okonkwo, Femi Azeez, Owen Oseni, Nnadi Tochukwu, Terem Moffi, Francis Uzoho, Chibuike Nwaiwu, Rafiu Durosinmi, Igho Ogbu and Alhassan Yusuf.

Efoghe also revealed that a pre match press conference would be held by 11am on Monday at Charlton Athletic Stadium, with head coach Eric Chelle and goalkeeper Francis Uzoho expected to address the media.

Meanwhile, the team’s official training session has been scheduled for 4pm at Charlton Stadium as final preparations continue ahead of the opening semi final clash.

The 2026 Unity Cup will take place from May 26 to May 30 at The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic in London.

The tournament, which combines football with cultural celebrations and diaspora activities, will feature four national teams including Nigeria, Jamaica, India and Zimbabwe.

Nigeria will face Zimbabwe in the opening semi final on May 26, while Jamaica will take on India a day later.

Both the third place playoff and the final are scheduled for May 30.

The Super Eagles head into the competition as defending champions after defeating Jamaica on penalties following a thrilling 2-2 draw in last year’s final.

Nigeria had earlier defeated Ghana 2-1 in the semi final before eventually lifting the trophy, and hopes will now be high for another successful campaign in London.
