The Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, has praised 10-year-old Junior Aruna for his impressive performance at the World Table Tennis Youth Tournament in Luxembourg, where he secured both silver and bronze medals.

Junior Aruna, son of Nigerian table tennis legend Aruna Quadri, delivered an outstanding showing by winning a silver medal in the Under-11 category and a bronze medal in the Under-13 division.

Commending the young athlete, Olopade described his performance as a clear reflection of his father’s legacy in the sport, noting that the NSC is proud of the Quadri family’s contribution to Nigerian table tennis.

Having an exciting young talent like Junior Quadri is a big boost for Nigerian sports and the future of table tennis in the country. I must also commend Aruna Quadri and his wife, Qaniat, for the excellent job they are doing in nurturing their children,” he said.

The NSC DG also acknowledged the role of Qaniat Quadri, a former player, who serves as Junior’s personal coach and has been instrumental in training both him and his sister toward achieving international recognition.

I want to assure Aruna Quadri and his wife that the Sports Commission is proud of their efforts and will continue to support them in developing the full potential of these young stars,” Olopade added.

He further emphasized that with emerging talents like Junior Aruna and many other promising Nigerian athletes across various sports, the future of Nigerian sports is not only bright but poised for sustained podium success on the global stage.
