Rangers International FC will play their home fixtures in the preliminary rounds of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, after reaching an agreement with Remo Stars, Trybal News reports.

The decision has been approved by the Rangers hierarchy as renovation work continues at the club’s traditional home, the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, popularly known as The Cathedral. The temporary relocation ensures the Flying Antelopes have a CAF-approved venue for their continental campaign while work on the Enugu stadium nears completion.

One of Nigeria’s most successful clubs, Rangers will be aiming to navigate the preliminary rounds and book a place in the CAF Champions League group stage. The Enugu giants boast an illustrious history, having won eight Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) titles, six President Federation Cup trophies, and the 1977 African Cup Winners’ Cup, becoming the first Nigerian club to win a major continental title.

The choice of the Remo Stars Stadium further underlines the venue’s growing status as one of the country’s premier football facilities. In recent years, the stadium has successfully hosted CAF inter-club matches and has earned recognition for its modern infrastructure, quality playing surface, and matchday standards.

Rangers will be hoping to make a strong statement on their return to continental football at a time when Nigerian clubs are seeking to reclaim their place among Africa’s elite. No Nigerian club has won the CAF Champions League since Enyimba’s historic back-to-back triumphs in 2003 and 2004, while reaching the group stage has become increasingly competitive.

For Remo Stars, hosting one of Nigeria’s biggest clubs is another endorsement of the club’s investment in football infrastructure and its growing influence within the domestic game.

With preparations now underway, the Flying Antelopes will begin their CAF Champions League journey in Ikenne, carrying the hopes of their supporters as they pursue a return to the competition’s group stage before eventually returning to their renovated home in Enugu.
