Nigerian football has been thrown into mourning following the reported death of former Hypebuzz FC, Royal Antwerp and Southampton U21 forward, Victor Udoh, in Abuja, Trybal News reports.

Udoh, who was 21, was reportedly found lifeless on Tuesday morning after allegedly going out with friends the previous night.

As of the time of filing this report, the exact cause of his death had not been officially confirmed. However, early reports suggest suspected food or drink poisoning, though authorities and family representatives are yet to issue an official statement.

The young striker began his football journey with Hypebuzz FC in Abuja before earning a move to Europe, where he joined Belgian side Royal Antwerp. He later moved to English club Southampton, featuring at U21 level, before continuing his career with Czech Republic second division club Dynamo České Budějovice.

Udoh was regarded as one of Nigeria’s promising young forwards, having made the transition from grassroots football in Abuja to European football at a young age.

His passing is a tragic blow to Nigerian football and to those who followed his journey from Abuja to the European stage.
