Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has made last-minute adjustments to his squad ahead of the 2026 Unity Cup Tournament scheduled to take place in England.
Belgium-based winger Yira Sor of Genk and Shooting Stars defender Tijani Al-Ameen have been added to the squad as Nigeria prepares to begin its title defence in London.
The changes became necessary after Swedish club AIK blocked recuperating Zadok Yohanna from participating in the tournament, which kicks off on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Sor, a former Flying Eagles winger, made his senior national team debut for Nigeria in March and will now have another opportunity to impress under Chelle. Al-Ameen, meanwhile, earns his first Super Eagles call-up following his impressive performances for NPFL side Shooting Stars.
His invitation increases the number of Nigeria Premier Football League players in the squad to eight, further highlighting Chelle’s willingness to assess home-based talents ahead of future international assignments.
Nigeria will open their Unity Cup campaign against Zimbabwe in the first semi-final on Tuesday, May 26, at Charlton Athletic Stadium, The Valley.
India and Jamaica will face each other in the second semi-final the following day at the same venue.
The winners of both semi-finals will meet in the final on May 30, while the third-place match will be played earlier on the same day.
