Rovers FC were caught up in a serious road accident on Tuesday while travelling to Lagos for their Nigeria National League fixture against Sporting Lagos.
The incident occurred near Asaba in Delta State, with the club confirming that their team bus lost control and overturned during the journey. Several players, officials and staff sustained injuries in the crash.
In a statement released by the club, Rovers FC described the situation as deeply distressing, revealing that one of the players is currently in critical condition and receiving intensive care in hospital.
The team had been en route for a rescheduled league game when the accident happened, abruptly halting their preparations and shifting focus to the well-being of those affected.
Club officials added that all injured individuals are being given the best possible medical attention, stressing that the health and safety of players and staff remains the immediate priority as they deal with the aftermath of the incident.
