Shooting Stars Sports Club defeated Ranchers Bees 3-1 in their EuroMatch Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Matchday 9 encounter in Ibadan, Trybal News reports.
Desmond Ojietefian, Damilola Akinola and Qamar Adegoke scored for the Oluyole Warriors, while Isah Ndala Aliyu netted the visitors only goal.
Shooting Stars took the lead in the 14th minute through Ojietefian, but Ranchers Bees equalised in the 38th minute when Aliyu found the net.
The hosts restored their advantage three minutes into first-half stoppage time, with Akinola scoring to give Shooting Stars a 2-1 lead at the break.
Shooting Stars had the opportunity to extend their advantage in the 52nd minute after being awarded a penalty, but Sodiq Ibrahim’s effort was saved by Ranchers Bees goalkeeper Tofa.
The home side eventually secured the victory in the 71st minute through Adegoke, who beat his marker with impressive close control before finishing from a difficult angle to make it 3-1.
The result will come as a relief to Yusuf and his technical crew after a difficult spell that had sparked frustration among supporters.
Ahead of the encounter, the club’s Executive Chairman, Hon. Taiwo Lekan-Salami, had urged fans to continue supporting the team, describing them as the club’s 12th man. He also reaffirmed his confidence in Yusuf despite the disappointing results.
Friday’s triumph offers Shooting Stars an opportunity to rebuild confidence and regain momentum as they continue their NPFL campaign.
Ranchers Bees, meanwhile, will look to respond to another setback as they seek to improve their results in the league.
