Semi Ajayi played the full 90 minutes as Hull City drew 1-1 with Brentford in the Premier League. The result extended Hull’s run of three successive home draws, while both sides maintained their unbeaten away and home records in the league this season.
Hull took the lead in the first half after Brentford made a mess of playing out from the back. Aaron Hickey fouled Tim Iroegbunam inside the box, giving the hosts a penalty. Oli McBurnie stepped up and sent his spot kick into the net to put Hull ahead.
However, Brentford responded well and pushed for an equaliser. Their pressure paid off in the 63rd minute when Dango Ouattara punished poor defending and scored from close range.
Hull then stepped up their search for a winner and created the better chances during the closing stages. Mohamed Belloumi showed quick feet inside the box to make space for a shot, but he sent his effort into the side netting.
Mohamed Ali Cho also came close to restoring Hull’s lead. His low strike looked dangerous, but Brentford goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher reacted well and kept it out with his foot.
Despite the late pressure, Hull could not find a winning goal. They had to settle for a point, although the performance offered encouragement after their disappointing defeat by Fulham in their previous match.

Semi Ajayi Delivers Strong Defensive Display
Ajayi played a key role at the back for Hull throughout the contest. The Nigerian defender completed all 90 minutes and recorded five successful tackles from six attempts.
He also made four clearances and five recoveries. In addition, Semi Ajayi won six of his eight ground duels and recorded 36 touches during the match.
The defender completed 18 of his 21 passes, giving him a passing accuracy of 86%. He also covered 9.7 kilometres as Hull worked to contain Brentford’s attack.
The draw keeps Hull unbeaten at home in the Premier League this season. However, they will feel they could have taken all three points after creating several promising chances late in the game.
Their response was particularly important after a worrying 1-0 loss to Fulham last time out. Hull failed to register a shot on target in that match and completed only 139 passes throughout the game.
Brentford, meanwhile, remain unbeaten away from home in the league this campaign. The point leaves them sixth in the standings, while Hull sit 10th.
Both sides will take encouragement from extending their respective records, although Hull may regret failing to turn their late chances into a winning goal.
