Liverpool have released Forever in our Hearts, a new biography celebrating the life and legacy of Diogo Jota. The club will donate all profits from the book to a grassroots football programme established in his name as confirmed in a statement.
Every purchase will support the LFC Foundation, according to the club. Published by Reach Sport, the biography is available now through official Liverpool stores and online.
Portuguese author and former professional footballer José Delgado wrote the book. It follows Jota’s journey from his early years in Portugal to becoming a Premier League winner and a much loved figure at Anfield.
Delgado conducted extensive interviews with Jota’s family, friends, teammates and coaches. Contributors include his wife, Rute, his parents, Isabel and Joaquim, former Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp and more than 90 other people who knew him.
“This book began as an opportunity to help preserve Diogo’s memory at a moment of profound sadness. My commitment throughout was to tell his story with care, honesty and respect for Diogo, André, and the family and friends who loved them.”
The biography charts Jota’s rise to the top of the game, including his Premier League success with Liverpool and UEFA Nations League triumph with Portugal.
It also explores his close relationship with his brother, André. In addition, the book reflects on the tragic events that followed Jota’s marriage to his childhood sweetheart, Rute, and the worldwide grief after both brothers died in July 2025.
Delgado Pays Tribute to Jota’s Legacy
Delgado said the support of those closest to Jota and André played a vital role in telling their story. Their memories helped him capture the brothers’ personalities and the relationships that shaped their lives.
“What moved me most was the generosity of those closest to them. Family members, teammates, coaches and friends shared their memories to help future generations understand the person Diogo was, and their love for both brothers can be felt on every page,” he said.
The author also spoke about Jota’s special connection with Liverpool. His research revealed that people remembered the forward for much more than his ability on the pitch.
“While researching the book, I came to understand the unique bond between Diogo and Liverpool FC. Everywhere I went, people spoke not only of his talent, but also his humility, commitment and character.”
Delgado hopes the biography will keep Jota’s memory alive and inspire future generations through his achievements and personal story.
“My hope is that Forever in our Hearts serves as a fitting tribute to Diogo’s life and legacy, and ensures his story continues to inspire others for years to come,” Delgado said.
The release marks another step in Liverpool’s efforts to honour their former No.20. Earlier this year, the club unveiled a permanent memorial to Diogo and André Silva outside Anfield.
The memorial gives supporters a place to remember the brothers and reflect on their lasting impact on the club and the wider football community. Through Forever in our Hearts, Liverpool are also turning that tribute into support for grassroots football.
