The Super Falcons of Nigeria will take on rivals Ghana in an international friendly on Saturday as part of their final preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, Trybal News reports.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) confirmed that the encounter against the Black Queens will take place at the Stade El Arbi Zaouli in Casablanca, with kick-off scheduled for 4pm.

Nigeria’s 10-time African champions opened camp in Casablanca, Morocco’s industrial and economic hub, on Monday as preparations intensified ahead of their Group C opener against Malawi in Rabat on Tuesday, 28 July.

As of Tuesday afternoon, 10 players had already arrived at the team’s base at the Hotel Marriott in Casablanca, with midfielder Toni Payne, who recently completed a move to Inter Milan Women from Everton Ladies, expected to join the squad on Wednesday.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade leads the early arrivals alongside goalkeepers Chiamaka Nnadozie and Fatima Oloko, defenders Oluwatosin Demehin, Glory Ogbonna, Shukurat Oladipo and Rofiat Imuran, midfielder Jennifer Echegini and forward Asisat Oshoala.

Under the guidance of Head Coach Justine Madugu, the Super Falcons held their first training session at the Stade El Arbi Zaouli on Tuesday afternoon as the team began fine-tuning preparations for the continental showpiece.

Saturday’s meeting with Ghana adds another chapter to one of African women’s football’s fiercest rivalries. The Black Queens were runners-up to Nigeria in the inaugural edition of the tournament, hosted by Nigeria in 1998.

The Super Falcons will begin the defence of their continental crown against Malawi on 28 July before facing Zambia on 1 August and Egypt on 5 August in their remaining Group C fixtures.

Beyond the quest for an 11th African title, qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil will also be at stake in Morocco. The four semi-finalists will secure automatic qualification, while the fifth-placed nation will advance to an intercontinental playoff tournament for another opportunity to reach the global finals.
