Nigeria’s U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, delivered another commanding performance to secure qualification for the third and final round of the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, thrashing Guinea 6-0 in the second leg to complete an emphatic 11-0 aggregate victory, Trybal News reports.
Having already established a strong advantage with a 5-0 first-leg win in Abidjan, the Flamingos returned home determined to finish the job in style at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne. The young Nigerians dominated proceedings from start to finish, showcasing their attacking quality and tactical discipline.
Oluwakemi Adegbuyi opened the scoring in the ninth minute, finishing off a precise delivery from Queen Joseph. Captain Harmony Chidi doubled the advantage moments later with a stunning long-range effort before Joseph got on the scoresheet herself in the 23rd minute to make it 3-0.
Adegbuyi grabbed her second goal of the afternoon with a well-taken header in the 32nd minute, while Chidi also completed her brace two minutes later as Nigeria raced into a five-goal lead before halftime.
The Flamingos maintained their intensity after the break, and substitute Precious Oscar added the sixth goal in the 70th minute to cap another dominant display and seal a resounding 6-0 victory.
The result confirmed an 11-0 aggregate triumph for Bankole Olowookere’s side, who now advance confidently to the final qualification round where they will face the Benin Republic for a place at the 2026 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
Following the impressive victory, the team’s outstanding performance was further rewarded by proprietor of Remo Stars Football Club and Beyond Limits Football Club, Hon. Kunle Soname.
Prior to the match, Soname had promised the Flamingos N750,000 for every goal scored against Guinea. True to his word, he redeemed the pledge after the final whistle, rewarding the team with a total sum of N4.5 million for their six-goal haul.
The gesture was met with excitement and appreciation from the players and officials, providing additional motivation as the Flamingos continue their quest to secure a place at the global showpiece in Morocco.
With two dominant performances, 11 goals scored and none conceded, Nigeria’s young stars have once again underlined their status as one of Africa’s strongest teams at this level and will head into the decisive final qualifying round full of confidence.
