The Nigeria Women Football League has confirmed Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as the host city for the 2026 NWFL Premiership Super Six Finals.

The championship, scheduled to take place from June 5 to 14, 2026, will mark the first time the season-ending playoffs will be staged in the Garden City.

The Super Six will bring together the top six clubs from the 2025/26 NWFL Premiership season to determine the league champions and Nigeria’s representative for the WAFU-B qualifiers ahead of the CAF Women’s Champions League.

NWFL Chief Operating Officer, Modupe Shabi, said the decision to award hosting rights to Rivers State reflects the state government’s consistent support for women’s football.

She noted that Rivers State successfully hosted the league’s Annual General Assembly last October and expressed confidence that Port Harcourt would deliver a memorable championship.

The competition will feature defending champions Bayelsa Queens, Edo Queens, Rivers Angels, Robo Queens, Nasarawa Amazons and debutants Abia Angels.

The six teams will compete in a round-robin format, with each club playing five matches across nine days.

Shabi also urged all participating clubs to maintain professionalism and comply fully with the competition’s regulations, schedules and official directives.

Recent editions of the NWFL Premiership have produced several champions, including Rivers Angels, Bayelsa Queens, Delta Queens and Edo Queens, underlining the growing competitiveness of women’s football in Nigeria.

The 2026 Super Six is expected to provide another high-quality contest as the country’s leading women’s clubs battle for domestic glory and continental qualification.
