Group B delivered plenty of drama, with Senegal emerging as the standout team after an impressive start. They edged Benin 1-0 before securing a thrilling 3-2 win over Tanzania in a high-scoring encounter. Earlier, Tanzania had battled to a 1-1 draw with Zambia, showing resilience despite eventually falling short against Senegal, who now lead the group.
The girls’ competition was equally exciting. In Group A, Zimbabwe delighted the home crowd with a spirited 2-2 draw against Morocco in a lively contest. Zambia, however, took control of the group standings with a convincing 3-1 victory over DR Congo.
In Group B, Ghana stole the spotlight with two outstanding performances. They opened with a commanding 6-0 win over Guinea and followed it up with a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Tanzania, underlining their strength and consistency. Burkina Faso also impressed, securing a solid 2-0 win over Tanzania to stay firmly in the race behind the group leaders.
