The race for promotion in the Nigeria National League (NNL) is gathering momentum, with several clubs still in contention for places in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
Doma United have already confirmed their return to the top flight after emerging winners of Northern Conference Group C, effectively ending Lobi Stars’ hopes of securing promotion. The Gombe-based side, relegated two seasons ago, have responded strongly and are now set for a quick comeback to the elite division.
In Southern Conference Group B, the fight remains finely balanced between Inter Lagos and Beyond Limits. Both sides have shown consistency throughout the campaign, but only one ticket is available. Beyond Limits will be aiming to finally complete their top-flight dream after previously earning promotion but failing to participate due to league regulations, while Inter Lagos are pushing hard to make a historic first appearance in the NPFL.
Southern Conference Group A has seen Akwa United take firm control of proceedings. The Promise Keepers strengthened their position at the top with a 3-1 victory over Ekiti United, opening up a five-point gap. Despite their advantage, Sporting Lagos are still within striking distance after a dominant 5-1 win against Stormers. Sitting second with 27 points and holding a game in hand, the Lagos side remain a serious challenger.
Meanwhile, Northern Conference Group D is yet to produce a clear frontrunner, with Ranchers Bees, Yobe Desert Stars, and Jigawa Golden Stars all still in the mix. However, the situation remains unresolved as final fixtures have been put on hold due to pending cases, leaving the outcome of the group uncertain.
With the season approaching its decisive stage, the battle for NPFL promotion is set for a dramatic finish. Doma United have secured their place, the question now is which teams will follow.
