The Bureau of the FIFA Council has approved the appointment of a Normalisation Committee to oversee the affairs of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) pending fresh elections into the federation’s Executive Committee, Trybal News reports.
The decision was communicated in a letter signed by FIFA Secretary General Mattias Grafström and addressed to Dr Emmanuel Ikpeme MON, confirming that the committee’s members would be appointed jointly by FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
According to the letter, the committee will comprise a suitable number of members, with appointments expected to be made as soon as possible.
The Normalisation Committee will remain in office until it has completed its assigned responsibilities, with its mandate set to expire no later than May 31, 2027.
FIFA also stipulated that none of the committee members will be eligible to contest any of the positions to be filled during the forthcoming NFF elections.
Pending the appointment of the committee, the NFF Secretariat will continue to handle the federation’s day-to-day operations and the administration of football in Nigeria.
The development sets the stage for an interim administrative arrangement at the NFF ahead of fresh elections to its Executive Committee, with FIFA and CAF jointly responsible for appointing the officials who will oversee the normalisation process.
