Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen scored against his former club Lille but refused to celebrate as Galatasaray secured a 4-2 away victory in the UEFA Champions League, Trybal News reports.

The Nigerian forward scored Galatasaray’s fourth goal in the 61st minute, helping the Turkish giants claim their first three points of the 2026 Champions League campaign.
Despite his decisive contribution, Osimhen chose not to celebrate after finding the net against the French side he previously represented. The 27-year-old clasped his palms together, raised his hands towards his face and turned towards the stands, with the gesture becoming one of the match’s standout moments.
Osimhen previously played for Lille during the 2019/20 season before moving to Napoli. This time, he lined up against his former employers, contributing to Galatasaray’s victory with his second-half strike.

The goal was Osimhen’s first in the Champions League this season and his seventh across all competitions for Galatasaray.
The visitors made a flying start when Yunus Akgun opened the scoring in the second minute. However, Lille responded through 19-year-old Soriba Diaoune, who found the net in the seventh and 39th minutes to complete a brace and put the visitors under pressure.
Aleksey Batrakov also scored for Lille in the 44th minute to restore parity, ensuring a dramatic first half as both sides traded goals.
Galatasaray responded after the interval and regained the lead through a Nabil Bentaleb own goal before Osimhen struck in the 61st minute to take the score to 4-2 and put the result beyond doubt.
The Nigerian striker recorded four shots and completed seven of his 11 passes, finishing the match with 21 touches. He also won two of his three aerial duels and registered one defensive contribution.
Galatasaray’s victory provides an important boost to their pursuit of European success, while Osimhen will look to build on his growing goal tally as the season progresses. His decision to refrain from celebrating against Lille also highlighted the significance of his previous connection with the French club.
