Alex Iwobi has reached a major Premier League milestone after becoming only the fifth player to make at least 100 league appearances for three different clubs.
The Nigeria international reached the landmark on Saturday when he started Fulham’s London derby against Crystal Palace at Craven Cottage.
Iwobi now joins an exclusive group that includes English football figures Gary Speed, Gareth Barry, James Milner and Rory Delap. The achievement highlights the consistency the Nigerian midfielder has shown throughout his Premier League career.
The 30 year old moved to Fulham from Everton on a free transfer in 2023. Before that, Everton signed him from Arsenal for €30.4 million in 2019.
Iwobi quickly established himself as an important player at Fulham under Marco Silva. Although Silva has since left the club to take charge of Benfica, the midfielder has continued to feature prominently under new head coach Alvaro Arbeloa.
Arbeloa has shown his faith in Iwobi from the start of the new campaign. The midfielder has started all three of Fulham’s games this season, allowing him to reach 100 Premier League appearances for the west London club.
Iwobi Reaches Fulham Century Despite Palace Defeat
The latest milestone adds to Iwobi’s impressive Premier League record. He has now made 100 league appearances for Fulham, following 123 appearances for Everton and another 100 for Arsenal.
However, the landmark did not come with a winning celebration. Fulham twice took the lead against Crystal Palace through Josh King and Cesar Palacios.
Palace refused to give up and fought back on both occasions. Left back Tyrick Mitchell produced an unlikely brace to bring the visitors level and keep the London derby finely balanced.
The visitors then completed the comeback late in the match. Another left back, Ben Chilwell, came off the bench to score the winning goal for Pierre Sage’s side.
The result gave Sage his first victory as Crystal Palace boss. Meanwhile, Iwobi’s personal achievement remained a bright moment for the Nigeria international despite Fulham missing out on all three points.
Iwobi’s latest appearance further strengthens his place among the Premier League’s most experienced players. His record across Arsenal, Everton and Fulham also underlines his longevity at the highest level of English football.
