Nigerian striker Cyriel Dessers continued his impressive UEFA Conference League form with a brace in Panathinaikos emphatic 5-1 victory over Kairat Almaty, Trybal News reports.
The Super Eagles forward scored once in each half, taking his tally to three goals in two Conference League appearances against Borac and Kairat Almaty.
Dessers doubled Panathinaikos lead in the first half after Georgios Kyriakopoulos had opened the scoring for the hosts. The former Rangers striker calmly converted from the penalty spot, sending his effort into the bottom-left corner beyond the reach of goalkeeper Temirlan Anarbekov.
The Nigerian international completed his brace early in the second half, capping a well-worked team move with a powerful finish into the top-left corner following a pass from Andreas Tetteh.
He was subsequently replaced by Elmin Rastoder shortly before the hour mark, having made a decisive contribution to his side’s commanding performance.
Dessers European form is complemented by his performances across all competitions, with the striker now boasting eight goals in 13 appearances for the Greek club.
His recent resurgence will come as a welcome boost as he seeks to rediscover his best form and strengthen his case for a recall to the Nigerian national team ahead of the November international window.
