Fulham FC secured a 1-0 victory over Aston Villa in Saturday’s Premier League fixture, with Nigeria internationals Calvin Bassey and Samuel Chukwueze both featuring in the contest.

Fulham started with greater control, enjoying more possession and creating the clearer openings in the first half. Chukwueze was active in attacking areas and tested Emiliano Martínez during the opening period.

The breakthrough came shortly before halftime when Ryan Sessegnon converted from close range after Martínez had saved an initial effort from Raúl Jiménez.

Fulham thought they had added a second goal after the interval through Timothy Castagne, but the strike was disallowed for a foul in the buildup.

Aston Villa responded with increased pressure in the latter stages, led by Ollie Watkins and Morgan Rogers, but Fulham’s defensive unit remained organised.

Bassey produced a steady performance in defence, contributing to the team’s ability to contain Villa’s attacking threats, while Chukwueze provided support in forward areas before being substituted in the second half.

The result represents Fulham’s 14th league win of the season and strengthens their position in the race for European qualification. They will next face Arsenal FC in what is expected to be a more demanding fixture.
