Bayern Munich head coach Vincent Kompany has confirmed that Jamal Musiala will be out of Saturday’s Franz Beckenbauer Supercup clash against Borussia Dortmund as the club carefully manages adjustments to his medical treatment, Trybal News reports.

Musiala will not be part of Bayern’s squad for the trip to Signal Iduna Park, with Kompany making it clear that the midfielder’s health remains the priority.

The 23-year-old has been at the centre of concern following two incidents during Bayern’s recent pre-season matches against RB Leipzig and Heidenheim, where he briefly collapsed on the pitch.

Musiala later revealed that he had been diagnosed with a neurological dysfunction that can cause temporary absence episodes and confirmed that he remains under specialist medical care.

Kompany has now explained that the Bayern star is currently adapting to changes in his treatment.

He is not in the squad. It is about him making the adaptation in the treatment,” Kompany said.

The decision means Musiala will be out of the Supercup game, with Bayern unwilling to take unnecessary risks with one of their most important players at this stage of the season.

The situation has also prompted support from across the Bundesliga. Borussia Dortmund managing director Lars Ricken expressed sympathy for Musiala, acknowledging how difficult the recent incidents were to watch despite the rivalry between the two clubs.

Bayern will have to find a way to compensate for Musiala’s absence, with summer signing Ismael Saibari among the players expected to take on greater responsibility.

Kompany has already praised Saibari’s power and speed and believes the Moroccan international can become an important part of the team as he adapts to his new surroundings.

But the biggest story ahead of Saturday’s Supercup remains Musiala.

The midfielder has continued individual training as he adjusts to his treatment, while Bayern focus on ensuring that his eventual return is handled correctly rather than hurried.

Kompany remains confident that Musiala will eventually return to the pitch and make his response through his football.

I am looking forward to the counter-attack from Musiala, when he answers all questions on the pitch again,” the Bayern coach said.

For now, Musiala will watch from the sidelines as Bayern and Dortmund battle for the first major piece of German silverware of the new season.
