Frank Onyeka played a key role as Coventry City confirmed their promotion to the Premier League after a tense 1-1 draw away to Blackburn Rovers.
The Super Eagles midfielder featured for just over an hour, putting in a disciplined shift before being substituted in the 62nd minute as Coventry pushed for the result they needed to seal promotion.

After a quiet opening half with few clear chances, the match sprang to life shortly after the restart. Blackburn broke the deadlock in the 54th minute through Ryoya Morishita, leaving the visitors with work to do in a high-pressure atmosphere at Ewood Park.
Sensing the urgency, head coach Frank Lampard made decisive changes from the bench. Those adjustments proved crucial late on, as substitute Victor Torp delivered an inviting cross that was powerfully headed home by defender Bobby Thomas in the 86th minute.
Blackburn pushed forward in search of a late winner, but Coventry remained composed under pressure, holding on to secure the point that mathematically guarantees their return to England’s top flight.
The result caps off a remarkable campaign for Coventry, who will now compete in the Premier League for the first time in 25 years.
For Onyeka, who joined Coventry on loan from Brentford in January, he will be hopeful of keep featuring in the Premier League next season following the club’s promotion.
