Victor Osimhen has once again underlined his status as one of Europe’s most dangerous forwards after finishing among the top performers in this season’s UEFA Champions League despite Galatasaray S.K.’s elimination from the competition.
The Nigerian international currently sits at the top of UEFA’s Man of the Match rankings for the 2025/26 campaign, sharing the lead with his former S.S.C. Napoli teammate, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, following a series of dominant displays for Galatasaray S.K.

Osimhen’s performances were central to Galatasaray’s impressive return to Europe’s biggest stage, as the Istanbul giants reached the knockout rounds for the first time in more than a decade under manager Okan Buruk.
The 27-year-old striker delivered decisive performances throughout the tournament, scoring seven goals and registering three assists in just 10 appearances. UEFA statistics also show Osimhen averaged more than four shots per game and remained one of the competition’s most aggressive attacking players.
One of the standout moments of his European campaign came in Amsterdam, where he produced a sensational hat-trick against AFC Ajax to secure a famous away victory for Galatasaray. The performance saw him become only the second Nigerian to score a Champions League hat-trick while also overtaking several national scoring records in European competitions.
Osimhen also inspired victories against Liverpool F.C. and FK Bodø/Glimt before helping Galatasaray edge past Juventus F.C. in a dramatic playoff encounter.
Although Galatasaray’s European journey eventually ended in the round of 16, Osimhen’s impact has continued to attract widespread praise across Europe.
Galatasaray coach Buruk recently compared the Super Eagles star’s importance to the influence of players like Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid C.F. and Harry Kane at FC Bayern Munich, describing Osimhen as the defining figure in his team.
Since completing his reported €75m permanent transfer from S.S.C. Napoli in 2025, Osimhen has continued to break records in Turkey. He recently became the fastest player in Galatasaray history to reach 50 goals, further cementing his legendary status among the club’s supporters.
His outstanding form has also translated into domestic success, with the Nigerian striker playing a leading role in Galatasaray’s pursuit of another Turkish league title while helping the club maintain its growing reputation in European football.
Osimhen first rose to global prominence during Napoli’s historic Serie A-winning campaign in 2022/23, where he finished as the league’s top scorer with 26 goals and helped the Italian side secure their first Scudetto in 33 years.
Now entering the peak years of his career, the Nigerian forward continues to prove himself on football’s biggest occasions, reinforcing his reputation as one of the finest strikers in the world today.
