Global music stars Shakira and Burna Boy are set to headline the official anthem for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, bringing together two of the biggest names in international music for football’s biggest stage, Trybal News reports.

Although Nigeria’s Super Eagles failed to qualify for the tournament for the second consecutive edition, the country will still have a major presence at the World Cup through Burna Boy, whose music will represent Africa on a global platform.

The Colombian superstar, widely celebrated as the “Queen of Latin Music,” confirmed the exciting collaboration on X, where she shared a teaser ahead of the release of the anthem titled “Dai Dai,” scheduled to drop on May 14.

Shakira is no stranger to FIFA World Cup history. She delivered one of the most iconic football anthems ever with “Waka Waka” during the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, a song that became a global phenomenon and remains deeply associated with the tournament. Burna Boy has also previously contributed to FIFA projects, having appeared on the soundtrack for the 2021 FIFA games.

Now, both stars have been brought together for what is expected to become one of the defining songs of the 2026 World Cup, a tournament that will run from June 11 to July 19 across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

The competition will be hosted in 16 cities, including 11 in the United States, three in Mexico and two in Canada, making it the biggest FIFA World Cup in history.

Despite Nigeria’s absence on the pitch, Burna Boy’s involvement ensures the country’s influence will still be strongly felt throughout the tournament, with his voice and music expected to resonate with millions of football fans around the world.
