Nigeria’s Super Falcons delivered an impressive performance to defeat Senegal 3-0 in their second international friendly at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, completing a double over the Lionesses of Teranga as preparations intensify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Trybal News Reports.

The victory followed Friday’s 2-1 win over the Senegalese and provided another encouraging display from Justin Madugu’s side ahead of the continental showpiece in Morocco.

Nigeria started brightly and looked dangerous from the opening whistle. The first clear opportunity arrived in the 13th minute when Rasheedat Ajibade led a flowing attacking move, but her final pass towards Joy Omewa was intercepted just before the striker could pull the trigger.

Ajibade remained at the heart of the Falcons’ attacking play and soon created another opening for Omewa, whose effort struck the post after beating the goalkeeper.

Monday Gift also caused problems down the left flank, showcasing her dribbling ability before delivering a dangerous cross that was parried away by the Senegalese goalkeeper. Ajibade and Toni Payne were unable to capitalise on the loose ball as Nigeria continued to press for the opener.

The breakthrough eventually arrived four minutes into the second half. Defender Shukurat Oladipo delivered a pinpoint cross into the area and Omewa rose highest to power home a header, giving the Super Falcons a deserved lead.

Nigeria doubled their advantage in the 55th minute after capitalising on a defensive mistake. Omewa showed strength and determination to dispossess a Senegal defender before calmly slotting home her second goal of the afternoon.

With the Falcons firmly in control, Madugu introduced experienced striker Asisat Oshoala and Folashade Ijamilusi. The changes paid immediate dividends as Oshoala added a third goal in the 66th minute, finishing from close range after being expertly picked out by Ajibade.

Senegal searched for a way back into the contest, but Nigeria’s defence remained disciplined and organised, ensuring goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie enjoyed a relatively comfortable afternoon as the hosts secured a convincing clean-sheet victory.

The victories over Senegal offer further evidence of the Super Falcons growing momentum ahead of the 2026 WAFCON, which will take place in Morocco from July 25 to August 16.

Nigeria, Africa’s most successful women’s national team with 10 continental titles, have been drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and tournament debutants Malawi. Senegal, meanwhile, will compete in Group A against hosts Morocco, Algeria and Kenya.

With confidence building and competition for places intensifying, the Super Falcons will head into the tournament encouraged by two strong performances and a growing sense of readiness for another continental title challenge.
