The Organising Committee of the 2026 Honourable Ajide/APC Unity Cup has extended the registration deadline for the competition by one week following requests from clubs and football stakeholders across Lagos State, Trybal News reports.

Speaking after a committee meeting held on Friday at the tournament secretariat in Surulere, Chairman of the Organising Committee, Tajudeen Disu, said the decision was taken to accommodate clubs that needed additional time to complete their registration process.

Disu revealed that the tournament has already attracted about 125 clubs drawn from the five divisions of Lagos State football, underlining the growing popularity and significance of the championship.

He encouraged clubs yet to register to take advantage of the extension and complete their registration on or before June 12, 2026.

The former Nigeria international thanked clubs that have already signed up and reiterated that participation in the competition remains free of charge. According to him, interested clubs are only required to download and complete the registration form through the tournament platform.

Disu also confirmed the prize money for the championship, with the winners set to receive ₦1 million, while the runners-up will earn ₦500,000.

He noted that the tournament is sponsored by the Honourable Tajudeen Ajide Foundation and aims to unite football stakeholders while mobilising support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and candidates of the All Progressives Congress.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deserves the support of all sportsmen and women because of the commitment his administration has shown towards the development of sports since assuming office,” Disu said.

He further urged Nigerians to support the President’s vision for national development and prosperity, describing sports as a powerful platform for unity, engagement and positive social impact.
