Remo Stars have appointed Olumide Ajibolade as the club’s new Head Coach, entrusting one of the architects of their acclaimed youth development system with the responsibility of leading the senior team into a new era, Trybal News reports.
Ajibolade takes over after an outstanding spell within the Remo Stars Sports Club structure, where he established himself as one of Nigeria’s most successful youth coaches. His promotion reflects the club’s long-standing philosophy of developing and rewarding talent from within.
The highly regarded tactician joined the Remo Stars Academy in 2019 as the U-17 Head Coach before taking charge of Beyond Limits Football Academy following its establishment in 2021. Under his leadership, Beyond Limits became one of the country’s most successful football development projects, winning five TCC League titles in six seasons, two TCC Cups, the 2025 TCC Super Cup, and Ogun State FA Cup titles in 2024 and 2026.
Ajibolade also guided Beyond Limits to back-to-back promotions from the Nationwide League One (NLO) to the Nigeria National League (NNL), and then into the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), where the club capped off a historic campaign by lifting the 2023/24 Nigeria National League title in Enugu.
On the international stage, he led Beyond Limits to victory at the prestigious Viareggio Cup in Italy in 2024 before guiding the team to consecutive Gothia Cup triumphs in Sweden in 2025 and 2026.
Ajibolade takes charge at a pivotal moment for Remo Stars following the club’s relegation from the Nigeria Premier Football League at the end of the 2025/26 season. The Sky Blue Stars suffered a dramatic drop to the Nigeria National League after conceding a stoppage-time equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Bendel Insurance on the final day, with goal difference ultimately condemning the former champions to the second tier. The 2026/27 campaign will now see Ajibolade tasked with leading Remo Stars’ bid for an immediate return to the top flight while rebuilding the club after one of the most difficult seasons in the club’s recent history.
Renowned for his ability to develop young talent, Ajibolade has helped produce several players who have gone on to secure professional careers across Europe and other parts of the world.
His appointment signals Remo Stars’ commitment to continuity as the club looks to build its next chapter under a coach who understands its philosophy, culture and long-term vision. The club expressed confidence that Ajibolade’s proven record of developing winning teams and nurturing elite talent will provide the foundation for a successful new chapter as Remo Stars target an immediate return to the top flight.
