Alaba Akintola, however, narrowly missed out on qualification after finishing third in Heat Two in 20.96 seconds. Zambia’s Zablon Ekwam won the race in 20.42 seconds, while Wanyae Belle claimed second place in 20.79 seconds.

Nigeria’s attention now turns to a busy evening session featuring several medal opportunities. Nathaniel Ezekiel will begin his men’s 400m campaign, while Jessica Oji competes in the women’s shot put final. Boxer Blessing Orakwe is also scheduled for her women’s 70kg quarterfinal bout.

The medal chase will continue in weightlifting, where Mary Osijo contests the women’s 86kg final, while Goodness Nwachukwu and Destiny Agbo will compete in the women’s para athletics discus throw. In para athletics, Ifeanyi Christian is set to line up in the men’s T47 100m final.
