Moses Simon Joins Nigeria’s 100 Cap Club

Simon entered the game in the 61st minute, replacing Akor Adams as the Super Eagles chased a comeback against Madagascar.

The 31 year old made 13 touches after coming on. He also completed five of six passes and recorded one shot on goal.

Simon made his senior Nigeria debut on 25th March 2015 against Uganda. He came on in the 59th minute for Anthony Ujah during an international friendly in Uyo.

More than 11 years later, he reached 100 appearances for the Super Eagles at the same stadium.

Simon now joins an exclusive group of Nigerian players who have reached the 100 cap mark.

Ahmed Musa leads the group with 111 appearances, while Vincent Enyeama has 101. Joseph Yobo reached 100 caps, and Alex Iwobi has also made 101 appearances for Nigeria.

The landmark came on a memorable night for the Super Eagles, who started their 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign with a 2-1 victory over Madagascar.

Madagascar took the lead through Ehsan Kari before Nigeria responded through debutants George Ilenikhena and Moses Usor.

Ilenikhena equalised in first half added time before Usor completed the comeback in the second half.

The result gave Nigeria three points from their opening Group L fixture, while Simon marked the occasion by becoming the latest Super Eagles player to reach 100 caps.
