Kelechi Iheanacho delivered late drama on Wednesday night after scoring a stoppage-time winner to hand Celtic a thrilling 3-2 victory over Motherwell and keep their Scottish Premiership title hopes alive.

The Nigerian striker came off the bench in the 70th minute before calmly converting a decisive penalty in the 99th minute to seal all three points for Celtic in dramatic fashion.

Motherwell had taken the lead in the 17th minute through Elliot Watt, but Daizen Maeda restored parity for Celtic before halftime. Benjamin Nygren then gave the visitors a 2-1 advantage in the 58th minute.

However, the game took another twist late on when Liam Gordon equalised for Motherwell in the 85th minute, seemingly handing a major advantage to league leaders Hearts in the title race.

With the match heading for a draw, Celtic were awarded a penalty deep into stoppage time after Sam Nicholson brought down a Celtic player inside the box. Iheanacho stepped up under pressure and confidently converted from the spot to snatch a dramatic victory for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

The Super Eagles forward has now scored five goals in his last seven games, taking his tally to eight goals in all competitions this season.

The victory means the Scottish Premiership title race will now be decided on the final day of the season on Saturday, when Celtic host Hearts in a winner-takes-all showdown.

Hearts currently sit top of the table with 80 points and a superior goal difference, while Celtic trail by just one point on 79.

A draw will be enough for Hearts to secure their first league title since 1960, while Celtic must win to claim a fifth consecutive Scottish Premiership crown.
