The countdown to the 2026 Commonwealth Games has entered its final phase, with just 15 days remaining before Glasgow welcomes thousands of athletes for one of the world’s premier multi-sport events, Trybal News reports.

Approximately 3,000 athletes representing 74 Commonwealth nations and territories will compete across 10 sports and 215 medal events during the Games, scheduled to take place from 23 July to 2 August in Scotland’s largest city.

Glasgow 2026 will feature a streamlined and compact format, with competitions staged across four existing venues as organisers embrace a more sustainable and cost-effective model while maintaining the high standards of international competition associated with the Games.

Nigeria will be among the nations aiming for podium success alongside traditional Commonwealth sporting powerhouses including Australia, England, India, Canada, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa, Wales, Jamaica, Malaysia, Singapore, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Kenya, and Trinidad and Tobago.

The upcoming edition will also mark the debut appearances of Gabon and Togo, taking the total number of participating Commonwealth nations and territories to 74.

Glasgow previously hosted the Commonwealth Games in 2014 and returns as host city twelve years later, with organisers seeking to deliver a world-class event built around existing infrastructure and a modern approach to hosting major sporting competitions.

With the countdown continuing, athletes across the Commonwealth are entering the final stages of their preparations as they set their sights on medals and national pride on the Glasgow stage.
