Nigeria’s U17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have been crowned champions of the 2026 WAFU-B U17 Women’s Cup after completing a perfect campaign with five wins from five matches, Trybal News reports.

The Flamingos sealed the title in emphatic fashion, dismantling Togo 4-0 in their final game of the six-team tournament in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.
Captain Harmony Chidi opened the scoring in the 15th minute from the penalty spot after playmaker Oluwakemi Adegbuyi was brought down inside the box.
Nigeria continued to dominate proceedings, with their high-tempo passing and pressing causing Togo problems. Adegbuyi’s pace repeatedly troubled the Togolese defence and earned Nigeria another penalty in the 35th minute, which Chidi converted to complete her brace.
The Flamingos maintained their discipline and concentration after the interval, despite holding a two-goal advantage.
Their pressure was rewarded again in the 67th minute when Oluebube Umejiaku produced a spectacular finish from an acute angle to make it 3-0.
Adegbuyi then capped an impressive individual performance by getting on the scoresheet in the 90th minute, scoring her fourth goal of the competition to complete the 4-0 victory.
As part of preparations for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, the two teams also contested a penalty shootout after the match, with Nigeria prevailing 5-4.
The victory completed a dominant tournament for the Flamingos, who scored 17 goals in five matches and conceded just two, finishing with a 100 per cent winning record to lift the WAFU-B U17 Women’s Cup.
