Nigeria’s U20 women’s team, the Falconets, have touched down in Ijebu Ode after wrapping up three weeks of intensive training in Abuja as preparations gather pace for their crucial World Cup qualifying tie.

The squad has now shifted base to Ogun State, where they will train at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne Remo, fine tuning tactics and match fitness ahead of the first leg against Malawi women’s national under 20 football team.

There is a strong sense of focus within the camp, with players showing sharp cohesion and determination as they build towards Saturday’s encounter. The technical crew is now fully concentrated on match readiness, knowing the importance of getting a positive result at home.

The first leg is scheduled for Saturday, May 2, with the return fixture set for May 9 in Malawi. The Falconets are aiming to take firm control of the tie in the opening game to ease pressure heading into the second leg away from home.

At stake is a place at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, which will be hosted in Poland from September 5 to 26, and the Nigerian side will be hoping their solid preparation translates into a convincing performance on the pitch.
